This, Too, Shall Pass

All things--even the air and wind--are transitory.

Whence comes suffering?

With excess attachment

to that which is impermanent,

brings a sense of loss

and sorrow.

Whence comes pain?

With denial of the

transitory nature of everything;

refusal to acknowledge

that all things—

even wind and air—

are fleeting

brings a sense of loss

and regret.

Whence comes freedom?

Suffering and pain cease

only when attachement and denial

are replaced with the

acceptance of this

one simple truth:

“This, too, shall pass.”
