When you are writing a novel and you have lots of ideas it is very hard to organize them in a proper way. When you write, it is recommended to have a piece of paper close to you, so you can write down your ideas before forgetting them. After a while, you’ll end up with lots of papers filled with bits and pieces of your future novel. How can you put them together to create a logical blueprint that will lead your writing?

Take all your ideas and arrange them chronologically

Take all the pieces of paper containing your ideas and split them into three piles, beginning of the story, ending of the story and body of the story. If you can’t decide where you want to put one idea, you can put it wherever you want. The amusing part of this process is that you can rearrange your ideas as many times as you like. You may not start with writing a good hook, think of the plot if you have inspiration for that.

Once you do that, take each pile and put it on the floor, you need to be able to see all your notes. Arrange them in a chronological order and read them aloud. What do you think, do they fit in? You might be baffled at this point, it might seem that your ideas will never be able to be part of the same novel. Don’t panic, the first step is done, we’ll get to the next one.

Add excitement and feelings to your ideas

Now, you need to link your ideas and create a great novel. In order to do this, you need to play with your readers’ feelings and use them in your favor. Set the the background for your novel and characters, create real-life scenarios for them. Create the necessary environment for that impossible love to flourish. Now you can present to your readers that young boy who can defeat the evil forces using his superhuman forces.

By doing this you make your readers want for more, you make them turn those pages. This is what every writer wants for his novel, to be read. When adding excitement and feelings to your novel, you create a connection between your readers and your story’s characters.

Describe your characters and prepare your readers

This is a great way to fill in the gaps of your novel. Take a closer look at your ideas and the way you arranged them. You need to have an exhaustive description of your characters and let your readers know everything about them.

You don’t want your character to end up doing something that your readers didn’t know he could do. If there’s an important event happening during your story, you need to explain it, you need to prepare your readers with all the information. You can’t just slip in a new idea without preparing your readers.

Use moments of tension to structure your novel

Feelings draw the readers closer to your novel. These moments of high tension or excitement, are the ones that make your reader ask for more in order to see the final result. You can use these thrilling moments to finish a chapter and start a new one. You can keep your reader interested by linking the two together using this action.

You can use the pause between the thrilling moment and its outcome to end the old chapter and start a new one. For example, your hero fell into a ravine while fighting his enemies and he wakes up a few moments later without having major wounds. You can end the chapter using the pause between the moment he fell into the ravine and the moment he woke up.

Write the synopsis of your novel

Now you have all your ideas arranged in a chronological order, you added some excitement and moments of drama to your novel. You described the characters thoroughly and you created very exciting stories for them.

The next step is to write down the entire synopsis of your novel. When doing this, the best thing is to have some space between your main ideas, two or three lines would be just fine. You’ll want to do this because, when reading it on later dates, ideas will pop up in your head and you can use this space to write them down.

When you are writing, novel ideas will pour in and you need to organize them in order to have a clean and logical structure. When you decided that there are enough ideas to create a novel, you need to write them down, you need to arrange them chronologically and expand them.

While doing this, you need to add tons of excitement and tension, hence create a novel worth reading. If you are in a slump, you can use this tips to create a more logical and coherent novel
