A Poem about Despair

Harsh life

Standing here
In this squalid street
Despair oozes
From my bare feet
Broken dreams
And tarnished faith
I stand before
The darkened gate
To reach beyond
Of thoughts so sweet
Makes my heart
Skip a beat
Drudgery engulfs me
The pains of hell
Shrouded in
My prison cell
I can’t be free
Of this misery I’ve found
Heavy agony
Dragging me down
