James McCrone is a writer and cook. His first published novel, Faithless Elector, is out now.
My work on and off the page deals with politics and issues of social responsibility and justice. I have been working in community development and affordable housing for more than fifteen years, and I have been writing and cooking for longer than that.
I graduated in 1990 from the University of Washington in Seattle, where I received a Master of Fine Arts degree in Creative Writing. Charles Johnson, the chair of my committee, received the National Book Award for his novel, Middle Passage, the same year I received my MFA. I have had unrealistic goals ever since.
