New to New York, Carl from Michigan encounters a six foot chicken on Broadway and begins an adventure which may or may not end happily.
I divide my literary time between writing short stories, journalism, planning literary events and reading. My stories have been included in several anthologies and magazines--and of course Scriggler. My Scriggler series is gay romances set in cities I love. I have a Kindle series going too, which is gay erotic stories connected to holidays of one kind or another throughout the year. I have one book of short stories published--Ginger Snaps: Photos & Stories of Queer Redheads--and another collection of gay erotic speculative fiction out for consideration now. I am working on a novel, just to see if I can write a good one. I have four miserable failures.
Journalism is a part-time job with a local paper, writing features and news stories. Literary event planning includes an annual literary festival, author events for a gay men's organization and readings at bookstores. I hope to launch an LGBT book fair in San Francisco next fall.
The authors most influential in shaping my writing were Austen, Hawthorne, Galsworthy and D.H. Lawrence. My favorite recent book is Ivan and Misha by Michael Aleynikov. Writers I follow include Colm Toibin, J.M. Coetzee, Cara Black and Gail Tsukiyama. I like manga comics very much, especially those by Takeshi Matsu and Gengoroh Tagame.
