AUTHOR of THE SWEET MELISSA ONGOING MEMOIR SERIES
I am the author of the Sweet Melissa ongoing memoir series. I have three books out right now, and the fourth will be out soon.
My story is about how my naivety, gullibility, impulsive nature, and poor choices, caused me a lifelong struggle with substance abuse and eating disorders.
Not until after surviving seven long years in state prison five years ago, and recently being diagnosed as having Adult ADHD, do I clearly understand the connection between the choices I have made in my life, and how they could have possibly been avoided.
I grew up in an upper class environment where mental illness could or would never be an option. I blame no one but myself for my actions and past. My parents were wonderful, and tried their best with what they knew at the time. They worked hard, supported five kids, all girls, which could not have been easy.
I did not go to college. I barely graduated high school. I have a story to tell that may leave you wondering "Why?"
I have always enjoyed journaling, writing poetry, and reading, although during the majority of my life I could not focus from page to page. I would have to read a single page over and over again. I have always thought, "Well, this is just me. An airhead at the most!"
I am hoping to learn as much as I can as I follow along this road of book writing. I am, with each book of my series, taking the advise I get from reviews, and feedback. I appreciate constructive criticism more than anything at this point and time.
After I finish the Sweet Melissa series, I have a couple other projects under my wing. One of them is my 365 Day personal daily journal, about the last year I spent in prison. I will appreciate, and accept any ideas or help I get get or learn from all of you more advanced and established authors, and poets!
Thank you all for allowing me the opportunity to introduce myself!
