I live in the Little 5 Points area of Atlanta, Georgia. I write poetry and political opinion pieces. I also design and make jewelry and art.
I love and respect Planet Earth and all its inhabitants and feel the top priority of humans should be the care and nurturing of both. I love animals equally as much as I love (some) humans, so I am disturbed by our out-of-control human population and its effects on all other life on Earth. Reducing the human population would fix most of our greatest problems -- climate change, water and food shortages, energy and the pollution it creates. All these problems are exacerbated by too many humans. Maintaining the current human population can be accomplished if each couple has no more than 2 children (zero population growth); we can reduce the human population if each couple only has one child (negative population growth). Doing nothing will mean humans will double their current population of 7 billion before the end of this century! We are taxing the Earth's ability to provide enough food and water for all its inhabitants. We must take care of that which sustains life for all life forms.
