The Apostle Paul by Rhonda L. Jackson

The Apostle Paul

The Apostle Paul is one of my favorite Biblical characters. Not only did he write many books of the new testament but I Corinthians 13 is exquisite. Romans 8:31-39 is like medicine to me! But one of the things I most love about the Apostle Paul is his authenticity! Before his Damascus Road experience Paul or Saul had a reputation for his desecration of Christians. The experience on the Damascus Road was probably the only way Jesus could get his hardhead attention. I mean can you imagine going 65-70 miles per hour on the freeway and having to come to a screeching stop because there’s a blinding light in front of you and everybody around can see it and a voice from the light calls YOU by name! Except for the speed this is Paul’s Damascus Road experience. He was going to Damascus to do further damage the Christians when Jesus called him to a screeching halt. Now I have heard those super Christians call Paul a zealot and I have to admit he did do things with zeal but I would not characterize Paul as a zealot I BELEIVE PAUL WAS JUST GRATEFUL!!! Paul had a firm grasp on biblical writing he was a good Pharisees a good Jewish man but like many GOOD CHRISTIANS today Paul or Saul was misguided until Jesus stopped him on that Damascus Road. Paul was using the bible like a bat for other people instead of a guide for himself and the old testament kind of leads to that type of thinking. Paul’s New Testament writings seems more about self application rather than judging others!!!!
