There are so many places I want to be right now…but the one main place I want to be right now is my hometown, New York City.

There are so many places I want to be right now…but the one main place I want to be right now is my hometown, New York City.

For the past two months I’ve been seeing different photos of my city that I start to feel homesick. I’m sure you’re wondering “if you miss it so damn much then why don’t you move back?” Well I can give you a very easy and simple answer…It’s too expensive to move back. Let alone find a descent apartment for a family of 6.

Plus even if I could move back, it wouldn’t be the same. Both me and my husband’s old apartments were we grew up is pretty much gone now…he grew up in upper Manhattan of Inwood. His family moved from his childhood apartment to Pennsylvania after his father retired as a superintendent of their building. I grew up in the upper west side of Manhattan in Harlem.  My family moved to Miami, FL and gave up the apartment so my childhood home is long gone…

I want to be able to go back so my youngest son can see where me and his father grew up (all the other kids either lived with my husband’s family, my family or in a family homeless shelter).  I also want to show the kids were me and there father met! Right in front of a Duncan donut store near Payson Avenue in Inwood. That’s where their father blurted out “damn you’re short! Can I buy you a donut?!”

My goal for our spring break family trip is to take a nice little trip back to NYC. Yes it has held some tough memories…but it also has held some special moments for me and my family :)
