Whenever you hear the word ‘hero’  you will most probably hear the word “super” in front of it. You will imagine and picture people having superpowers ,wearing weird outfits,  super strong, have their own unique superpower and are always on the right side of justice. in the real world , being a hero is a totally different story.

In today’s world the word “hero” is being tossed around without  thinking so much about it.The word “hero” has been so overused that by time it is losing it’s meaning.

In the Oxford English dictionary is shows that the word ‘hero’ is defined as a typical person who is admired by many for his courage, outstanding achievments and noble qualities.

Hero’s come in all ages, sizes and gender. A “hero” can be a person that saves lives and  does good in the society he lives in, though a “hero” can also  be somebody who is afraid of doing something that he is scared of but still IS brave enough to do it. A “hero” could be someone who voluntary leaves his safety bubble knowing that he will confront danger to save the life of another. A “hero” is someone who can be looked up for their actions and the way they live life.

Bravery, courage, sacrifice, compassion, determination, loyalty, honesty are some of the trades  that you will find in a hero.

“  A hero is no braver than any ordinary man but he is brave for 5 minutes longer” – Ralph Waldo Emerson”

Kids today need somebody to believe in , they need somebody to show them what the true meaning of heroism is. Today we live in a culture where our role models are the celebrities we see on television, they have what all of us want (hot dates, cool rides and stacks of cash). Though the problem with celebrities is that they won’t teach you the moral of heroism. The majority of them only do it for those fifteen minutes of fame and nothing else. However real heroes. Give us something substantial, something to think about, they can live without the limelight just as long as they are helping somebody in need.

Instead of spending time seeking for fame or fortune they are actually living their lives with values (something that all of us should do). A true “hero” doesn’t care about seeking attention he only cares about doing the greater good for the society he lives in. Celebrities may claim the world, but hero are the ones who actually change the world.

Who qualifies ?

it’s really hard to say who qualifies or not. Different people have different heroes whom they look up to or try to emulate. Also it always depends on the situation and scenario that you are in. Few people don’t even notice that they are doing a heroic deed let alone considering  themselves as a” hero” when doing something they have no choice about doing,  Today just about every soldier, police officer  and civil servant gets called a “hero” ( you don’t need to be superman to see right through those ones who aren’t ).

People who unfortunately  find themselves facing a potentially terminal disease , are being a “hero” in there own right due to the fact that they are taking all the challenges being brought to them with strife . Still they don’t feel like heroes cause for them they are only doing what they need to survive. There is no personal sacrifice, there is only the fight to save themselves so they can see another day. That’s what makes them heroic  and noble, despite all the painful treatments they must endure they still keep on fighting.

To sum it all up the hero’s are those who truly  do what they know is right and necessary in a  difficult situation. The mums who are struggling to feed their children and do whatever it takes to feed them is a hero. The dad’s who are willing to sacrifice everything for there children no matter what the outcome is they are hero’s.

Everyone is a hero in  a matter of way with just an act of kindness or one simple word one can make or ruin your day! So lets try to be the best hero’s we can be and make this world a better place for everyone in it.
