Monochromatic, My life is drab without you. Fifty shades of sameness doesn’t inspire, What I wouldn’t give for some blue. To swim in those eyes again, My own Caribbean getaway. Languish a while in crystalline waters, In orange hues as the Sun sets for the day.

My life is drab without you
Fifty shades of sameness doesn’t inspire
What I wouldn’t give for some blue
To swim in those eyes again
My own Caribbean getaway
Languish a while in crystalline waters
In orange hues as the Sun sets for the day

Please give me a splash of red
Mark this canvas stretched tight
With passion that cannot be misread
Painted lips that could offer rebuke
And later hold mine in sweet embrace
Fill the room with intimate whispers
Crescent smile giving the night chase

My life lacks vitality now we’re apart
Holding this brush in my hands
I want to become a student of art
To be cured of this detachment
And tendency to think only of self
Without you I now realize
I need every color on the shelf

Pencil lines on canvas it remains unfinished
Pigment and Muse you were one and both
Now my palette is greatly diminished
You were by far the better artist
I’m not really sure where to start
But unless I start painting I won't know
Which colors will complete this work of art
