Children of Pride

A musical poem based on an idea from Game of Thrones (and our world)

The musical inspiration for this poem:

How fast do they grow

the little ones

Yesterday small, then proud and tall

still before tomorrow

Weeds springing for the sun

like it’s their own

Forgetting the price is steep

for no more than one may reap

any of worth which was sown

How fast do they grow

their heads getting ripe

with ideas of power and grandeur and laying low

foes of every stripe

How they haggle and gripe

seek loot to swipe

know not their trifles are moot

Their plans will be foiled

by hands that toil

for heavy’s the head

about to spoil

No more

shall they grow

torn at the root

What needs to be dead

long may it feed the crow
