Once you step in,
be prepared to barter your well being.
It will strip you of any integrity you possess.
The damage will sneak up on you,
and in no time at all, it will be your best friend.
He’ll whisper in your ear,
he’ll caress your thighs.
He’ll make you believe in everything he has to say.
He’ll demand more and more of you,
and he’ll be a constant reminder that you’re not good enough.
He’ll rob you of your ability to think.
He’ll gnaw away at any notions of self-esteem until you’re
a hollow shell.
And then he’ll turn around and smile, taking pleasure in
the work he’s done.
