WEATHERING ON THE HILLS Theme: When the circles of cloud gather and leave no direction, hope for rain. BIG BLUE SEAS POEM BOOK COLLECTION  Vo. 15 CHAPTER 10 © Cash Onadele

Weathering on the Hills

I.
Weathering winds circle, soughing south,
Winnowed our thoughts in this desert land,
All we had left, carried the sounds of sorrows,
Through the paths that trailed behind us.

II.
There was no other way to recant our sufferings,
Whispers of our littered belongings, tell the story,
We braved hunger with whiffs of dust,
Hoping for rain in this sad place.

III.
Ahead the growing hills, our altitude of shame,
Harrowing through this abasement of spirit,
What is left, tempered the human soul,
Another gush of air, then a hope for rain.

IV.
Today the blanket above, curtains the dark clouds,
The rising storms, a welcome sound in pain,
When it breaks its heaviness, waters shall fall,
We pray the cleansing we need, to see us through.
