You are the blood curdling, flesh eating bacteria the people on the six o’clock news talk about. You are foreign, of foreign land, of foreign statutes, but you’ve made your way into the countries of my soul. You swam by the blood in my veins and hiked the mountains of sadness I left standing at the foot of my heart. You ate your way through flesh and blood, if only just to say you did it. So, good job, I suppose. For loving me in no such way in which I loved you. For never lying with your eyes, but only with your words. I cannot believe the soul who encompassed me wholeheartedly and had the audacity let the words, “I didn’t mean it,” come out. You meant it, I know you meant it. I just don’t think you realize how lethal your detonation was, the ever-sparring attributes that fall from your lips like rain. You lied alright, but only with your words.
