Beneath the hooded stranger

With the long and straggly hair

Was a feeling quite familiar

That I’m sure was always there.

His arms were long and skinny,

His frame was frail and weak

My spine would curl in shivers

Every time I’d hear him speak.

His feet weren’t planted on the ground

His legs rose to the sky

I wanted to go with him

And I couldn’t tell you why.

Was this death, here in the flesh

And why right here with me?

I never felt a thing at all

Just his dark and dreary sea.

Risen were we in the sky

Above my world and home

And as we flew up higher

For once, I didn’t feel alone.

He twirled me in the dust of clouds

And fed me to the rain

He lifted up my heartache

And destroyed what was my pain.

My goosebumps rose beneath my shirt

My sweat, it drenched my eyes

I woke up feeling lonely

And missing all the skies.
