12/9/16 Three stanzas each about a single word

I whispered into the dark,

a single word,

do you know what it was?

I waited in silence,

enjoying my solitude,

I knew that I was the only one

to speak my language

and there would be no reply.

I spoke into the light,

a single word,

do you know what it was?

I danced myself stupid.

I was both marionette and puppet master.

I laughed at my own stupidity

and cared not a whit

for the scorn or fear of others.

I shouted into the storm,

a single word,

do you know what it was?

Rage into rage,

poor nature, she was no match for my theatre.

My holocaust breath

steaming and stinking of wretchedness

sandblasting the thunderheads into submission.
