I tried to invoke the reader's participation by disclaiming the ability to describe the sound of rain, something everyone has experienced. The rest is a meditation on juxtaposition.
I wake to the distant rumbling of thunder and the sound of rain I can't quite describe.
The enormous outside world gets on with mortality's busy affairs; nature broods in its powerful indifference.
Inside, its simply us together, resting in silence.
