Reflections

-

I bathed her within lavish words of adornment

I trailed my fingertips up her spine
to increase her physical torment

-

We ran free and wild through the meadows and thunderous storms

-

We sat upon luscious green grass and enjoyed the hot summers sun

As our emotions slowly
transformed

-

We looked at the distant future

Created dreams to trespass and nurture

-

And then she left

-

I still sit quietly, playing cards and look at the setting summers sun

And silently reflect and wonder

Was she the one

-

A beauty who wanted more
A simple wish for a lifetime too adore

-

Regrets languishing beneath my feet

But I know
Aphrodite will send me someone else to meet

-

A simple shuffle of the deck
My treasured retirement check
