A LONG TIME AGO AT THE BEGINNING OF THINGS

THERE WAS A SPIDER WITH BEAUTIFUL WINGS

THIS MADE THE BUTTERFLY JEALOUS YOU SEE

SO IT PLOTTED AND PLANNED AS IT WATCHED FROM A TREE

THEN ONE NIGHT WHILE THE SPIDER WAS SLEEPING

A BEE SAW THE BUTTERFLY NEARBY CREEPING

THROUGH THE PETALS OF A FLOWER IT WAS PEEPING

THE SPIDER AWOKE IN A TERRIBLE FRIGHT

IT LOOKED TO THE LEFT AND IT LOOKED TO THE RIGHT

BUT THERE WAS NO BUTTERFLY IN SIGHT

THE SPIDER SAW ITS WINGS WERE GONE AND THEN IT STARTED TO CRY

THEN ALONG CAME THE BEE THAT WAS WATCHING NEARBY

I SAW IT TAKE YOUR WINGS THE BEE THEN DID EXPLAIN

AND IT BUZZED TO THHE SPIDER THE BUTTERFLYS' NAME

NEXT MORNING ON 8 LEGS THE SPIDER CRAWLED HERE AND THERE

IT HEARD WHISPERS AND LAUGHTER FROM THE INSECTS EVERYWHERE

THE SPIDER TRIED TO IGNORE THE INSECTS BUT THEY WOULDN'T STOP

SO IT CRAWLED UNDER A TREE AND CLIMBED UP TO THE TOP

THE SPIDER FORGOT IT COULD NOT FLY WITH WINGS NO LONGER THERE

THE SPIDER WAS NOW SCARED TO BE HIGH UP IN THE AIR

IT CLUNG TO THE TREE WITH ALL OF ITS MIGHT

FRIGHTENED OF FALLING ALL DAY UNTIL NIGHT

ON THIS NIGHT THE SPIDER SLEPT AND WOKE UP IN A DREAM

IT HAD FALLEN OFF THE TREE AND WAS HANGING BY A SEAM

TO IT'S SUPRISE THE SEAM COULD STRETCH, IT WAS STICKY AND IT WAS STRONG

SO IT JUMPED FROM BRANCH TO BRANCH BUILDING A WEB ALL NIGHT LONG

THEN IN THE MORNING AS THE SUN SHINED ON IT'S WEB WITH SPARKLING DEW

IT LOOKED LIKE LITTLE DIAMONDS AND THE BUTTERFLY THOUGHT SO TOO

THE SPIDER HID AND WAITED FOR THE BUTTERFLY TO COME NEAR

AND WHEN ITS WINGS STUCK TO THE WEB THE SPIDER GAVE A CHEER

AHA, SAID THE SPIDER AS IT TIED THE BUTTERFLY UP IN SEAMS

YOU MAY HAVE TAKEN MY BEAUTIFUL WINGS BUT YOU CAN NEVER TAKE MY DREAMS
