A lyric.

Living on the outskirts of greatness

Never get invited to the dance

Not even just arriving lateness

One look and I don’t stand a chance

Hanging there outside in the shadows

Listen to the music in my head

Can’t even get let into the bad shows

My performance is solo instead

On the outskirts where I dwell

Living large and doing swell

Locked behind creative wall

Wait for never coming call

Looming near the apex of success

Capacities far beyond required

Find we’re impossible to impress

Interest in being interesting expired

Just want things to be amusing

Too much thinking hurts the brain

Then life just gets too confusing

Least as far as I can ascertain

On the outskirts where I dwell

Living large and doing swell

Locked behind creative wall

Waiting alone there in the hall

Live on the fringes of understanding

All it would really take is a good look

Sadly close looking’s so demanding

Easier to not read a good book

Working here in self-imposed exile

Seek acceptance where it shant be found

All the observations I compile

Will still be here when I’m not around

On the outskirts where I dwell

Living large and doing swell

Locked behind creative walls

Kicking myself in the balls
