In this world I'm led to believe,
There's parts of it that footprints haven't seen.
Parts that are restricted from human touch,
So independent, forever their own crutch.

I was brought up on the promise,
That everyone has a place in the world,
A place of comfort, filled with undoubtable relief.
So how come when I stand still,
Or move from soil to sand,
I start to lose this sense of knowing and belief.

I've trodden miles across this earth,
Trying to live for the moment, live for now,
But always find myself looking backwards or forwards,
Always searching for my own self worth.

I stand upon land that has to support not only itself but me,
So how can I be of support to someone, if I myself cannot be.

Can people not walk on water because to sea is not for the weak,
Or is it the secrets it holds are the ones we seek?

I'll think I'll forever struggle,
As I can't trust that people and the world can relate,
As people just smile with knowing kindness,
And the earth itself needs to constantly rotate.
