Black people problems,
Problems,
Problems,
Problems,
Black people problems,

That 23 year old,
Pulled over,
Police suspicious,
Because he drives a Range Rover,
Officer ask for his license,
He reaches for his wallet....

Black people problems,
Problems,
Problems,
Problems,
Black people problems,

The college student eluding all of his peers,
One difference besides the grades,
This person is the only black kid,
Breaking the stereotypes,
Of the ones on the campus,
Speak so articulately,
And have no blemish,
How fast your life changes,
When you're by yourself,
You're the only one of your kind,
No one to turn to for help,
They lack empathy,
Can't understand what's it like to be me,
Their skin,
Never been tan like me,

Black people problems,
Problems,
Problems,
Problems,
Black people problems,

That sixteen year old,
Belly swollen,
Heading home every day from school,
And get treated cold,
By her mother, brother, dad,
Sister,
Make her think twice,
About her family truly caring,
Because ones not blood,
Treat her right,
Makes her question her life

Black people problems,
Problems,
Problems,
Problems,
Black people problems,

Do black lives matter or do we all?
The question I ponder, as I stare at our wall,
Do we complain too much or have a point?
Are we rioting too much, or crying for an affectionate American touch?
Is equality even relevant,
Or the true issue is we don't work hard much,
Does the Civil Rights Act of '64 even help us,
Or are we settling for welfare given to us,
And only clap to have a job,
And not strive for much,
"I got a job,"
"Where?!"
"McDonald's,"
"Congratulations buddy,"
And that works for us,
In the skin of a minimal race,
I wish I could have my umbilical cord cut,
And not be apart of us,

Black people problems,
Problems,
Problems,
Problems,
Black people problems,

My third grade teacher tortured my life,
Told me I could never graduate,
It poisoned my life,
Lived boxed-in to their description,
Of my life,
Barely worked in school,
Barely made it through,
Graduation I made it to,
Shocked my family members,
Because they couldn't believe it too,
College went well,
But unfortunately depression unveiled,
Blessed beyond measure,
Why God reward someone who never felt,
Like he deserved it,
Was absent from his purpose,
Third grade teacher,
Made his life worthless,
So gems in life,
He felt eluded his purpose,

His talk was so "trilla,"
His life replayed back like a movie,
He dropped the knife in his dorm room,
And POOF...

He begin to piece his life back together,
Feeling deserving and starting to live a purpose,
Waited on God's time, and he birthed flowers in life,
Flying in places, he never thought he'll fly,
People seeing the good parts of the movie,
But missed his struggle,
Bullets flying by him but they can't hurt him,

One college degree,
Aiming for another,
Black male figure who sister say she love him,
Marveled at his life,
Stated I want my son, "to be like you,"
Evading pregnancy scares,
And helping other black men,
Make it through,
His role models love him,
Their eyes focused on you,
Interested in your life,
And watching your every move,
Survivor guilt escaping,
It no longer has a hold on you,

Cleansed his hands of a good circle, with riot apples,
Producing positive fruits,
And teaching others how to make it happen,
Viewing life as positive and constantly deleting sadness,
Realizing his position and the protection he has over the madness,
Locked in on making history,
First in his immediate family,
To receive two degrees,
He has nine classes,
Left....

But no one knows his struggle,
To reach this point,
Scars still on him but not physically spotted,
Went through his past and forgiven it,
But never forgot it,
Black people problems a contradiction,
Something he learned as life he experienced,
White people,
Asian people,
Hispanic and black,
These are "united" states problems and not black,

When I reveal the truth,
Are you still a fan?
When they continue to shoot each other,
Do you feel sad?
When we settle for less than our potential,
Do you get mad?
Or do you blame the system,
For the lack of effort we had?
Black people can't be white people.
White people can't be black.
Problems aren't segregated and that's a fact.
Equality isn't totally equal and that's stats.
Find a solution but rioting isn't that.
