Concealed for so long

By a mask of leaves

The flower opens

Awakening to

A blissful world

Of sunshine and rain

Gently showering

Refreshing all life

The days then turned harsh

Storms shaking the leaves

Petals trembling in

The rage of the wind

One by one they fall

Victims to the storm

Leaving behind thorns

As sole possessors

Clouds roll back to show

A sun no longer

Soothing and gentle

The hard rays beat down

Parching all the land

Supple branches turned

To hardened dead sticks

With naught but thorns

To remain as a

Reminder of the

Beauty that was lost.
