May I Play You?

This is a poem from my second upcoming book titled "More Hart ~ Less Hurt".

If I was a musical instrument,

What kind would I be?

Maybe one that had strings?

Or possibly one that had keys?

Would you strum every chord,

To make sure I was tight?

Or press your fingers against me,

Until I sounded just right?

Would you cradle me in your arms,

With no room left in between?

Or would you sit back and watch,

As your fingers made me sing?

I want to feel your pulse beating,

In your fingertips.

As our rhythm speeds up,

And you begin to bite your lip.

How you handle me,

Determines the melody I'll make.

The words, "May I play you?"

Is all it will take.
