Warrigals are lion-like beasts that have been sighted in the Australian state of New South Wales. Like with all mystery animals, the same question is raised: do we settle for photos, videos and tracks (not proof), or do we capture of kill one to prove it? Either way, what are the consequences?

Warrigal

Travis Jackson

Warrigal,

You, maned hunter of the bush,

Tracking a hapless kangaroo!

I watch! I hush...

Warrigal,

Feline in feature,

Mighty of muscle,

Proud in stature.

Warrigal,

Cattle are curious,

Before you pounce

And feed on flesh luxurious.

Warrigal,

Dingoes keep away,

For you have stolen their dinner,

You made them pay.

Warrigal,

You haunt the southern hemisphere,

The Phantom of New South Wales,

The Aborigine’s fear.

Warrigal,

Why do you exist

In Australia instead of Africa or Asia

Where your kind persist?

Warrigal,

In modern times, a question casual:

Are you an Out-Of-Place Lion?

Or a Lion-like marsupial?

Warrigal,

Living, breathing, true!

Oh, you don't sense me,

But I, through a gun sight, see you…
