A fable of success bound by perception: "No great verse was composed by a still pen."

Come First Light

A young man carved gleefully into the night.

Only to cast it nimbly from his sight.

Wearily cursing it at first light.

An aging man carved desperately into the night.

Only to hurl it hastily from his sight.

Wearily cursing it at first light.

An old man carved silently into the night.

Only to carry it bitterly from his sight.

Wearily cursing it at first light.

An old man passed harshly into the night.

Only to miss the crowds outside, out of his sight.

Amazed at the mountain of treasures rising above the first light.
