On occasion of Ramadan Kareem, this is a brief prose on how essential it is to have faith in the Almighty.

They sat on those warped steps waiting for him

Abu gee promised he’d get food today,

Another day lost to bad luck, he entered empty handed!

Days barbed into poverty, askance was not to say

One glass of milk, just one

And so many mouths to feed

Work that day was tiring as hell

But hunger didn’t give away to greed

Prostrated by age, Abu gee’s wrinkled fate it was

When Allah sent Adam on earth, peace be upon him

God said ‘I know that which you do not know.’

Wish he knew his account was at the rim

Mercy, courage and enlightenment

Blessed was he who helped the poor

Pardoned was he who held the strain

Mercy was all his, Allah the doer

He knew not what lay ahead

Those lingering eyes at his empty hands

Abu gee wished his dua was read,

Iftar for today was no appetite!

A smile on his face and a heart full of love

Rahim ran towards Abu gee with his twinkling glare

“I earned 60 rupees, picking up luggage at the station” he said

Faith answered, Allah had heard his prayer…
