I laid myself out

like a jacket on a puddle:

soaking wet,

yet still meant to smile.

Truth-slain,

outside of myself -

for you.

Forgetful fellow by choice,

you deny recollection

of the dauntless spirit

that ran with the rain,

and comes from the sun.

The one who cannot

and will not acclimate,

despite the fear that drips

from every hopeless attempt you make

at forcing the gauge.
