House of cards

27/11/2016 A poem about want

Such a small thing for most,

as easy as breathing,

built in, straight from the manufacturer,

for most.

As natural as a will to live,

normal and commonplace,

ubiquitous, this desire for things.

For me it's a long haul

to make something out of nothing,

a spark sparked, so tiny and delicate.

To give it voice takes so much effort.

Too much of myself invested in the making

and the slightest resistance

will bring it all crashing down.
