Maybe in My Dreams

A poem about the loss of a loved one

In my dreams
I’ll be able
To feel the embrace I so longed for but never received.
In my dreams
I’ll approach
you sooner than what was originally conceived.

Next lifetime
our spirits can connect
Without abandoning our flesh
Our souls can resurrect

It isn’t over
No, we’ve only begun
Our ties that bind
Energized by the sun.

We never leave,
Only transform
From what we were used to
Into our new norm

Regardless of the amount of heartache
Absence of your presence, I’ll have to take.

There’ll come a day when souls unite again,
But I pray that in my dreams I’ll see you before then.
