My lord:

could heaven ever hold a place for a sinner like me?

Any goodness I may have had has vanished as you see

It has slowly ebbed away, like the parting sea ~

Leaving bitter salt where once freshness was to be

Can a soul in a land now barren have any hope with thee?

No blame for this state rests except with me

Lord I’m so hollow, not stoic as you see

On my face do I fall, unto your mercy I plea

Lord don’t forsake me – where else can I turn?

Without your mercy, unto hell I will fall.
