Memorial memento.

A simple salute.

My dad was a soldier, and prisoner of war.
At least mine came back, sad so many more,
whose spouses and children were left lonely and sore.
I extend my lament while I mourn in this score.
These brave volunteers who leave love behind
to fight for our freedoms with one task in mind,
to uphold our beliefs, to free all mankind
and to stand for good reason, when our leaders are blind.
War, I abhor and believe we all spurn,
the wasting of life and the scorched Earth we burn.
But, for those that remain is my current concern.
Those families of the heroes who did not return.
