In an instant the world revolved around Pandora’s box

The golden clasp gleamed in the fire’s tongue and

The barrel oak sang songs of better days

What. To. Do.

Hands could retreat to familiar territories

Or they could break through the overgrowth

To reach for the clasp of Pandora’s box

Prove you wrong?

I could prove you right my dear

Unarmed are those who underestimate the stray cat

She has claws I hear

A friend to shake your hand and rip your heart — the choice is mine?

Pursuing her is an art

Those who mastered fled swiftly and though

Many have tried few still bask in their gilded glory

It makes you wonder what is to gain.

One, Two, Three…

If the world exists after the third bell strikes

Perhaps we will survive long enough for war to bite

If we last long enough to see them at each others’ throats

Perhaps we won’t feel the pain when one of us

Must wear the scapegoat’s pelt

You’ll tell me why you feel and what picks at your heart’s strings

And so we will know your true story, so forget about me

Show me your blood

Sing to me stories of your pain

I’m not used to a quite soul

I beg you tell me your dragon isn’t slain

Perhaps with a fiddle I’ll lure him out

We’ll dance in the courtyard and howl at the moon

Once I’ve devoured his essence

And this may be soon

I’ll come for your smile and stitch it up tight

You’ll be crying with laughter in every fight

I’ll consume you little rebel

Turn the sun right-side down

And when we both turn to the moon

We’ll see the little box

Of barrel oak from better days

And a once-gleaming clasp

Only then,

After three will I prove to you

Who was wrong and who is right
