The Stage

Temptations call from without,

Beckoning me to stir

From this spectator’s chair

Where fear kept me bound tight

To watch the plays of love affairs

Tumble through the night.

I long to join in the chorus,

To take lead role once more.

My intentions, next to dreams,

Lying shattered on the floor.

I cast aside the bonds

And clasp the reverie,

Now changed so by time.

I stand amid the shadowed seats

And with solemn joyfulness

Declare, “The show must go on!”
