Josie searches the archives of the Red Saints Sanctuary for leads on her vampire foe the Shadow Walker and discovers the tomb and story of Cateline, the first Red Saint.

INT. RED SAINTS SANCTUARY (LIBRARY) — DAY

JOSIE reads selected books from the archives, finding an aged text on the first Red Saint Cataline.

JOSIE scans the text about Cataline’s family being killed by a vampire from the ancient race. A master of shadows, vicious and bloodthirsty.

JOSIE takes photos of the text with her phone before delicately closing the book.

INT. RED SAINTS SANCTUARY (CATALINE’S TOMB) — DAY

JOSIE stands in respectful silence, looking up at the statue of Cataline.

SIMON enters quietly and stands next to JOSIE.

SIMON
The first Red Saint.

JOSIE
Yeah, I found some of the history
on her while I was researching the Shadow Walker.

SIMON
A tragic, and yet inspiring story.
Truly an amazing young woman.

JOSIE steps to the wall and runs her fingers along the granite stone with Cataline’s epitaph.

JOSIE
Are her remains really in there?

SIMON
Absolutely. Our entire society is
based on the events of her life. She will always rest here.

JOSIE
The Shadow Walker, he’s the same
sort of creature she battled, isn’t he?

SIMON
Yes, at least I believe so. I’m
glad you revisited Cataline’s history.

JOSIE
Yeah, I guess we have something in
common.

SIMON
You two have more in common than
you know. You two carry the same spirit.

JOSIE
Thanks, we’ll see about that.

SIMON
You’re an extraordinary hunter
Josie. We all know the exceptional challenge you face but, that’s why you’re here.

JOSIE
I’m glad you guys feel that way.

JOSIE looks up at Cataline’s statue once more.

JOSIE (CONT’D)
You think I’ll be in here one day?

SIMON
I’m certain of that. But we’re a
long way from then I’m sure.

JOSIE
Let’s hope so. Thanks Simon.

SIMON
You’re welcome Josie.

JOSIE takes one more look at Cataline before leaving.

EXT. RED SAINTS SANCTUARY — DAY

JOSIE finds DET. CAPELLI outside once again.

DET. CAPELLI
Hi. Were you just leaving again?

JOSIE
I was just walking down the street.

DET. CAPELLI
Where were you last night?

JOSIE
I was out, with a friend.

DET. CAPELLI
There was another murder last
night.

JOSIE
I heard.

DET. CAPELLI
Do you know anything about it?

JOSIE
What would I know?

DET. CAPELLI
You wouldn’t believe what I saw
last night.

JOSIE
What?

DET. CAPELLI
Some girl, looked about your age, with her throat torn out but that
wasn’t the interesting part. Can you guess what else I found on her body?

JOSIE
No?

DET. CAPELLI reaches into his jacket pocket and pulls out a couple photos.

C.U.: PHOTOS
Pictures of the bite mark on the woman’s chest.

JOSIE (CONT’D)
What’s that supposed to be?

DET. CAPELLI
Take a guess.

JOSIE
Some kind of bite?

DET. CAPELLI
That’s exactly what it there’s no way in hell what it looks like.

JOSIE looks at DET. CAPELLI.

DET. CAPELLI
Are you ready to let me know what
you’re looking for yet?

JOSIE
I don’t know anything.

DET. CAPELLI
Sure you do! How many more have to
die like this before you start talking?

JOSIE
What do you want to know? I don’t
know who did this. You’re the
detective, you think I anything you don’t?

DET. CAPELLI
I know you had nothing to do with this.
But you’re interested and that makes you a part in this so you’d better know what you’re getting into.

JOSIE
That makes two of us.

DET. CAPELLI
What’s that supposed to mean?

JOSIE
You’ve seen those pictures. What if
you find something you don’t know how to handle?

DET. CAPELLI
I’ll be fine.

JOSIE
I have to go now.

DET. CAPELLI
Be careful. I can’t watch your back
and find this guy at the same time.

JOSIE
You too.
