This is a story about a boy with a hole in his head. Sadly, he doesn't know about this gaping void, but he's noticed people laughing at him, and it makes him feel like he lives his life standing directly underneath a really funny billboard. You see, this boy suffered from catoptrophobia — the fear of mirrors. He lived in a house with no reflective surfaces of any kind, which posed a unique set of difficulties. It wasn't all bad: he allowed no polish in his house, and because he had no glass or china, he ate and drank with those disposable dinnerware sets, the packs of plates and cups and plastic crockery that you buy in sets of 100, meaning he did very little cleaning.
