Imagine what would happen if there was to be a knock on your door

If, on a winter's night, a traveller was to knock your door, would you open it to see his face?

If, on that winter's night, the traveller was to show you his face, would you then scream into the dark night, fear gripping your heart like a cold vice?

If, further, on that cold, dark night, and were you to look in the traveller's eyes, would you see into the depths of your own soul?

If, you were to see his smile, would you see the evil that lurks within, and fall back, sure in the knowledge you cannot escape your own truth?

If, on that winter's night, you look in the traveller's eyes again, would you fall into the depths that lie within?

If, on that cold and dark night, you fell into the depths, would you see the enemy's face and realise it was your own?

If, on a winter's night, a traveller was to knock on your door, would you recognise the face of Death, and call him in?

And finally, if on that winter's night, you were to open your door to Death, would you then greet him and say, 'Welcome, old friend', and fall in his arms?

Or finally if, on that winter's night, you dreamt that a traveller was to knock on your door, would you wake up cold, sweaty, fearful, and run screaming into the fearful night?
