You won't remember the books

Ancient and weather-rotten

My journals and pieces

Of heart and languished fantasy

I've never been a poet

I'd have to die first

Like everything I did was truly

Unremarkable due to who I was

You can't change who you are

The idea of destiny

Is the simple observation

That your personality decides

What you want and what you get

Have always been different

You don't need to hear it

When you know so clearly

I've filed my dreams away

Left on a disappearing ship

To be jettisoned in the tropics

They'll find that island
